Film Review: Yann Gonzalez' KNIFE+ HEART (2018) 4/5

Here's my review on the Flickchart blog for Yann Gonzalez' excellent Knife+Heart (2018), which received the Prix Jean Vigo last year: http://www.flickchart.com/blog/review-knifeheart/

Senses of Cinema: "Colloidal Images: The Silent Films of Philippe Garrel"

Philippe Garrel, filming his reflection with a hand-cranked camera, in one of the opening shots of Le bleu des origines (1979).
On October 10th of 2018, my essay concerning the three silent feature films that Philippe Garrel directed – Le révélateur (1968), Les hautes solitudes (1974), and Le bleu des origines (1979) – was published as part of the 68th issue of Senses of Cinema. Included as part of a larger dossier on the post-New Wave, entitled "The Second Generation: French Cinema After The New Wave" (which I encourage exploring), it was a real pleasure to get to analyze these films in a way that was indicative of how I experienced one of them (Les hates solitudes) in the theater.
